Abstract:
In 1996, in the north of the village of Rudka near Kunštát, the Technical Museum in Brno carried out a small scale archaeological excavation of the remains of bloomery workshop. Fragments of bloomery furnace walls, slag, pottery and thin-walled tuyeres were found in the trench. These are the main topic of the paper, as they were found in relatively large numbers and survived in a much better condition than in the case of previous findings of this type of archaeological material made in the area. The paper also presents older findings documenting the activities of medieval ironworks in the vicinity of the town of Kunštát.
