Abstract:
Pyšolec (Žďár nad Sázavou District) is one of the Pernštejn castles built on a rock promontory, where digging a well as a primary source of water would certainly be technically demanding, thus the creation of a rainwater tank was considered here. The rainwater tank was situated in the area of the castle courtyard between the bergfrit and the palace. The object had already been excavated in the past and was filled with modern waste to a depth of about 3 m. The lower half of the rainwater tank, including its immediate surroundings, was filled with blocks of masonry and building elements released during the deliberate destruction of the castle. The research of the rainwater tank yielded a collection of interesting finds and presents this object as an important technical monument, necessary for the existence of the castle.
