Abstract:
The paper deals with archaeological research carried out between 1995 and 1997 at the Habrůvecká bučina site in the Moravian Karst. Its main aim is to inventory and analyse the currently available finds from this site. The aim is also to obtain further information about the recorded early medieval ironworks and, at the same time, to enable its closer comparison with the sites in the area that have been excavated so far. It can be concluded that the site fits into the picture of iron production in the Moravian Karst during the early medieval period, but certain unusual artefacts were found, raising two questions: the possibility of using metallurgical equipment enabling slag tapping even from the early medieval period and the presence of residential buildings in the vicinity of the bloomery workshops.
