Abstract:
The contribution is devoted to the basic mining tool – the chisel. The first part deals with the description of the chisel/mining iron and its constituent parts. The second part presents a suggestion as to the possible classification of these objects. This is applied to a collection of 125 chisels from Jeseník mining sites. Attention is also given to the specific find situation, leading to certain conclusions about the age of the tools and their transportation to their present location.
