Abstract:
Relics of different pyrotechnical devices were excavated in the postwar times. Those objects are not always identified properly as a specific manufacturing technical or technological object. The glass furnaces, respectively, glass–works and in particular their accompanying material relics mainly from Middle Ages are specific and unmistakable from other similar pyrotechnological devices. In the Czech lands there were not done many of archaeological researches that would uncover remains of ceased glass metallurgical areas. The uncovered relics are often not correctly interpreted, respectively, their function is not understood well, and therefore not properly explained. The same is true for some archeological materials related to glass–works operations, found in the area of studied sites. For this reason, the presented text tries to convey briefly the basic findings on the issue so that there are no erroneous interpretations of pyrotechnical objects associated with the glass production and related to it material sources.
