Abstract:
The paper presents the results of radiocarbon dating of selected slag specimens from the Habrůvecká Bučina site in the Moravian Karst. The main aim of the analysis was to refine the chronology and to provide a new perspective on the findings obtained from previous evaluations of the available assemblage. However, the results received, most likely due to contamination, did not yield unambiguous information or answers and instead further deepened the uncertainties surrounding this early medieval iron-working site. In view of the significant discrepancy between the radiocarbon dates and the ceramic assemblage, it is necessary to consider the potential limitations of the method, as well as the specific character of the site and the recovered finds.
