Abstract:
In the scope of rescue excavation conducted prior to the construction of a parkhouse on the Roosevelt street in Brno, a production site was documented, which included several kilns. Some were interpreted to be lime kilns, others could not be assigned without a bias, with them having served either as lime or brick kilns, or both. One of the kilns was characteristic by its smaller proportions and a grate in the burning chamber. With regard to the found remains of flat roof tiles, both unburnt and defective, this device was classified as a kiln for roof tile fabrication.
