Abstract:
The brewery at the Carthusian monastery in Brno-Královo Pole originated in 20s of 17th century in the southwestern corner of the monastery complex. The archeological research in 2006 uncovered some of its individual parts which were confronted with archival sources. The disposition of the brewery was in the form of letter L. The malt house was located in the area of the east wing. The north wing was reserved for the brewery and it consisted (from the north) of the brewhouse, a fermenting room and a brewery cellar. In the area of brewhouse the heating equipment of brewing pan was recognized. The fermenting room was partially sunk towards the surrounding terrain. The production of the brewery was 910 barrels (about 200 000 liters) in the middle of the 18th century.
