Guidelines and Information for Authors of the Peer-Reviewed Journal

For publication in the peer-reviewed section of the journal, we accept original, previously unpublished scientific papers based on the author’s own research or original overview articles. Submissions to the peer-reviewed section will undergo a review process. The texts for the peer-reviewed section must be accompanied by an abstract in English and follow the structure of an original scientific paper, including footnotes and citations of the used literature.

For the non-peer-reviewed section, we accept texts, materials, and reports whose primary purpose is to inform about events in the field. All submissions for publication must be approved by the editorial board and comply with the guidelines for authors set by the editorial team.

When preparing submissions, please follow the editorial requirements outlined below.

General Information
  • The editorial board accepts scholarly texts such as articles, studies, essays, and materials, as well as non-expert texts such as reports on events in the field, exhibition information, reports on visits to foreign institutions, literature updates, etc. Non-expert texts are included in the non-peer-reviewed, informative section of the journal.
  • The author(s) should provide their personal details: full name (including academic titles), affiliation (with address), and email contact.
  • The author is responsible for the content of the submission.
  • All contributions are published online in open access mode.
  • The publication of articles is free of any Article Processing Charges.
  • Individual issues are also released in print.
  • Authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights without restrictions.
  • See also the Journal Policy.
Aims & Scope
  • Presentation and problem-solving related to archaeological research of technical and technological equipment and artifacts, documentation, and the preservation of industrial heritage.
  • Introduction to the results of practical experiments conducted in the reconstruction of ancient production equipment.
Guidelines for Text Preparation
  • An original scientific text with a maximum length of 20 standard pages (1,800 characters per page), an abstract of no more than one standard page, and a list of up to 10 keywords in English.
  • Submissions should be sent in .doc or .rtf format, using either Arial or Times New Roman font, with 1.5 line spacing, numbered pages, and no special formatting.
  • The footnotes should be placed at the end of the text and numbered sequentially with Arabic numerals in superscript, starting from 1. Please do not use the “footnote” function in MS Word.
  • References should be cited using the first element of the record and the publication date (this method is also known as the “Harvard system” or “Harvard style”).
  • The final list of bibliographic references should be alphabetically ordered and divided into sources and literature.
References to Cited Literature

In the citing document, the first element (author’s last name or the first words of the name of a corporation, or the first words of the document title if the document has no author) is placed in round brackets, followed by the year of publication or creation of the document, if available. Both elements should be italicized. If the first element is the name of an individual, it should be written in lowercase letters. If the first element already naturally appears in the text, only the year of publication should be included in the brackets.

Additionally, it is advisable to include the page number(s) in the brackets to indicate the precise location of the quote or paraphrased idea (especially in larger documents, such as books and extensive studies). Citations in brackets can be placed anywhere within the sentence, after any word, but if placed at the end of the sentence, they should be placed before the final period that ends the sentence.

For documents with multiple authors (3 or more), only the surname of the first author should be cited in the text, followed by the expression “et al.”, as long as it does not lead to ambiguity. If two or more documents have the same first element and year of publication, they can be distinguished by adding lowercase letters (a, b, c, d, …) immediately (without a space) following the publication year.
