The paper is focused on the presentation of a collection item from the mining and metallurgy fund of the Mining Museum in Rožňava – a field shaft furnace (bloomery furnace) from the extinct medieval settlement of Somkút from the vicinity of the village of Gemerský Sad. It describes the method of smelting and the construction of the field shaft furnace itself. The second part describes the method of presentation within the exposition of mining and metallurgy of Gemer and compares the methods of presentation of similar shaft furnaces in museums in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
